From here, we’ll take a short local bus ride toward the day’s first cultural highlight.

Visit the Historic Shizuoka Sengen Shrine

Step into a peaceful world of tradition as you explore the grounds of Shizuoka Sengen Shrine, a place cherished by locals for its dignified presence and deep cultural roots.
Note: The praying hall is currently under renovation and is not visible, but the grounds remain open and welcoming.

Enjoy a Leisurely Stroll Through Local Life on Sengen Street

Stroll down Sengen Street and immerse yourself in the relaxed local atmosphere. This calm street is home to charming shops, cozy cafes, and friendly restaurants loved by locals. It’s a great place to enjoy an authentic experience, relax, and discover hidden gems that truly capture the essence of the neighborhood.

Step Back in Time at Sumpu Castle Park

Visit Sumpu Castle Park, where the great Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu once made his home. Enjoy a peaceful walk through the well-maintained Japanese gardens and admire the rebuilt watchtowers and gates, which show the skill of traditional Japanese craftsmen. Though much of the original castle is gone, the restored buildings give a clear glimpse into its proud history.

Shop, Snack, and Stroll in Shizuoka City’s Best Streets

On your way back to the station, take a stroll down Gofukucho and Koyamachi Streets, the lively shopping areas of Shizuoka city.
